Save The Dates – Upcoming MMPC Meetings
The Mid-Michigan Photography Club is planning to hold meetings at First Presbyterian Church, 510 W. Ottawa St. Lansing, MI 49833. Meeting dates include:

- Wednesday March 2, 2022 – Big Cookie Quarterly Event

Big Cookie – Digital Format Announcement
Congratulations to the winner of the December “Food” Big Cookie: Glenn Dunn for people’s choice and for judges’ choice. The theme for March 2022 Big Cookie is “MUSIC.” The Big Cookie is a key way for MMPC members to share their work and to receive feedback on their images.
Thanks to several MMPC members that shared ideas to encourage participation in the Big Cookie. We want to reduce any barriers. The MMPC Board discussed the Big Cookie and we decided to move to an ALL DIGITAL FORMAT for this activity. Starting in March 2022, Big Cookie participants are asked to bring their image on a flash drive. We will use the projector to display the images. We will still have People’s and Judge’s choice competitions. So that the software does not alter your image, the following image format is recommended:
JPEG quality = 100
Color Space = sRGB, this is really important
Resize to:
Width = 1280 pixels
Height = 800 pixels
Resolution = 72 pixels//inch
Sharpen for Screen Amount = High
ALL images must be submitted in a digital JPEG format to ensure a fair competition. Most software, including Lightroom and Photoshop can create a JPEG file in this format. Bring your image on a thumb drive.
Gallery Show Planning
The annual MMPC Gallery Show will be held again at the Riverview Church – Holt Venue. The dates will be March 9, 2022 – May 24, 2019. All MMPC members are encouraged to enter. The pricing to enter will be $10 for up to two images. All prints must be matted, framed, and ready to hang (with wire on the back of the frame). The maximum outside dimensions of the mat are 28 X 32 inches. Minimum outside dimensions of the mat are 8 X 10 inches. Members may offer their prints for sale, or they may choose to have it on display only. The following are the dates for the 2022 Gallery Show, to be held at Riverview Church, 3585 E Willoughby Rd, Holt, MI
Setup – Tuesday, March 8, 2022 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Take-Down – Tuesday, May 24, 2022 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
The fee for participation in the gallery show must be paid at the MMPC meeting on March 3, 2022. There will be two forms that must be submitted to participate. There is the Riverview Church Artists’ Agreement, and the Application for MMPC’s Riverview Gallery Show.
Thanks to Rich Wyllis for providing consultation regarding choice of photos for the show. We are looking forward to having as many participate in the show as possible.
Annual MMPC Photo Clinic
Thanks to all that helped make the January 2022 MMPC Photo Clinic a success. John Stine, Paul Bielawski, and Rich Wyllis provided great presentations. Welcome to our new members.
MMPC Photo Challenge
Thanks to all who have contributed to the MMPC Photo Challenge. The January theme is Doorways and/or Archways. It is great to see the submissions on the Facebook page. A gallery of the photos from prior months is on the MMPC web site at http://mmphotoclub.net/monthly-challenge/. If you do not use the Facebook group, send your entry by email to mmpclansing@gmail.com so that we can post it to the Facebook page. Discussion of the photos, beyond simply liking the picture, is encouraged. The current and upcoming monthly themes for the photo challenge are:

- February 2022 – Textile
