March MMPC Meeting – March 5, 2025

An in-person meeting of the Mid-Michigan Photography Club is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday March 5, 2025. This will be a shooting event for Table Top Photography. Bring your camera, tripod, and interesting small things to photograph.

 Gallery Show Planning

The annual MMPC Gallery Show will be held again at the Riverview Church – Holt Venue. The dates will be March 12, 2025 – April 30, 2025. All MMPC members are encouraged to display their images. The pricing will be $10 for up to three images. All prints must be matted, framed, and ready to hang (with wire on the back of the frame). The maximum outside dimensions are 28 X 32 inches. Minimum print size is 8 X 10 inches. Members may offer their prints for sale, or they may choose to have it on display only. There will be two forms that must be submitted to participate. There is the Riverview Church Artists’ Agreement, and the Application for MMPC’s Riverview Gallery Show.

The following are the dates for the 2025 Gallery Show, to be held at Riverview Church, 3585 E Willoughby Rd, Holt, MI

Setup – Wednesday, March 12, 2025 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Take-Down – Wednesday, April 30, 2025 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

The club’s April 2025 meeting will be a Gallery Show Reception at Riverview Church – Holt Venue.

Big Cookie

Congratulations to Sunny Nayak and Glenn S. Dunn for participating in the December 2024 Big Cookie friendly photo competition with the theme Action. The theme for the next big cookie is “Pets.” Members are encouraged to bring a digital image for the Big Cookie competition at the March 2025 meeting.

 Meijer Garden Butterflies Field Trip

MMPC will host a field trip to Butterflies are Blooming at Meijer Gardens on Saturday March 29, 2025. We will meet at 8:00 a.m. to carpool from the Boot Barn/Michaels lot on Marketplace South of Saginaw near the Saginaw Exit on I-96.Information is available at https://www.meijergardens.org/butterflies-are-blooming/.

 MMPC Logo Clothing

MMPC clothing items are available to order. You can specify a hoodie as a pullover or zip-up or you can order a t-shirt. You can bring your order form to an MMPC meeting or you can send your order form to the address on the form. Delivery will be at a future MMPC meeting.

A limited number of club emblem patches are available for $15 each. The patches are 3½ inches square, embroidered, three color patches on heavy white cloth. See Glenn Dunn if you are interested.

 MMPC Monthly Photo Challenge

Thanks to all who have contributed to the MMPC Photo Challenge. The February theme is Doors. It is great to see the submissions on the Facebook page. If you do not use the Facebook group, send your entry by email to mmpclansing@gmail.com so that we can post it to the Facebook page. Constructive discussion of the photos, beyond simply liking the picture, is encouraged. The current and upcoming monthly themes for the photo challenge are:

• February 2025 – Door(s) (with a suggested technique of Texture)
• March 2025 – Shadows
