February MMPC Meeting – March 4, 2026

An in-person meeting of the Mid-Michigan Photography Club is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday March 4, 2026. This will be a shooting event for Table Top Photography. Bring your camera, tripod, and interesting small things to photograph.

 Gallery Show Planning

The annual MMPC Gallery Show will be held again at the Riverview Church – Holt Venue. The dates will be March 11, 2026 – April 15, 2026. All MMPC members are encouraged to display their images. The pricing will be $10 for up to three images. All prints must be matted, framed, and ready to hang (with wire on the back of the frame). The maximum outside dimensions are 28 X 32 inches. Minimum print size is 8 X 10 inches. Members may offer their prints for sale, or they may choose to have it on display only. Ther forms to participate is the Application for MMPC’s Riverview Gallery Show.

The following are the dates for the 2026 Gallery Show, to be held at Riverview Church, 3585 E Willoughby Rd, Holt, MI

Setup – Wednesday, March 11, 2026 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Take-Down – Wednesday, April 16, 2026 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

The club’s April 2026 meeting will be a Gallery Show Reception at Riverview Church – Holt Venue.

Big Cookie

Congratulations to Sunny Nayak and Andrea Loomis for participating in the February 2026 Big Cookie friendly photo competition with the theme Still Life. The club will conduct the next Big Cookie friendly competitions in May 2026. The theme for the May 2026 Big Cookie is “Silhouette.” Members are encouraged to bring a (only one) digital image the Big Cookie competition at the May 2026 meeting.

Lansing Orchid Show

The Greater Lansing Orchid Society Show and Sale is an annual event held the last weekend of February. The event will be held at Van Atta’s Greenhouse and Flower Shop, 9008 Old M-78, Haslett, MI. They hold Photo Hour from 9-11 am on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The use of tripods is allowed during this time. Backgrounds have been challenging in the past. Many displays had black backgrounds in 2025. The use of tripods is allowed. This is a fun event. MMPC photographers are encouraged to participate. Information is available at https://www.greaterlansingorchidsociety.info/.

 Meijer Garden Butterflies Field Trip

MMPC will host a field trip to Butterflies are Blooming at Meijer Gardens on Saturday April 11, 2026. We will meet at 8:00 a.m. to carpool from the Boot Barn/Michaels lot on Marketplace South of Saginaw near the Saginaw Exit on I-96.Information is available at https://www.meijergardens.org/butterflies-are-blooming/.

 MMPC Logo Clothing

MMPC clothing items are available to order. You can specify a hoodie as a pullover or zip-up or you can order a t-shirt. You can bring your order form to an MMPC meeting or you can send your order form to the address on the form. Delivery will be at a future MMPC meeting.

A limited number of club emblem patches are available for $15 each. The patches are 3½ inches square, embroidered, three color patches on heavy white cloth. See Glenn Dunn if you are interested.

MMPC Monthly Photo Challenge

Thanks to all who have contributed to the MMPC Photo Challenge. The February theme is Round Shapes. It is great to see the submissions on the Facebook page. If you do not use the Facebook group, send your entry by email to mmpclansing@gmail.com so that we can post it to the Facebook page. Constructive discussion of the photos, beyond simply liking the picture, is encouraged. The current and upcoming monthly themes for the photo challenge are:
